Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Education in Emergencies Ads

SummaryText
This is a series of message advertisements on education in emergencies designed for advocacy on quality education worldwide. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)'s Back on Track programme developed the ads based on the conviction that, in countries that have emerged from conflict or natural disasters, education restores civic confidence and signals prospects for a better future where children's fundamental human right to education is respected and they are given the opportunity to learn and develop to their full potential. The ads are meant to speak to a variety of audiences, including development professionals, decisionmakers, and the general public. Core themes include: education is aspiration; education is protection; education is our obligation; and education is transformation.

The files are available both online (as animated flash versions, a slideshow, and/or high-resolution PDFs) and in print (as printable PDFs). High-quality print files are available for posters, brochures, and other advocacy materials upon request (contact: enjinga@unicef.org).
