Mongolian Development Centre (MDC) - Mongolia
The Mogolian Development Centre (MDC) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation working to empower individuals and institutions through education and training. Their focus has been on child education, child development and capacity building and community development in Mongolia.
MDC develops early childhood character development curriculum to be used in schools across the country. In 1995, they organised the National NGO Conference in the Rights of the Child, which was followed by a series of educational and promotional initiatives targeted at teachers, administrators and parents. Their community development projects include participatory communication - the approach is based on "the conviction that true development first takes place within individuals who are empowered to recognise, enhance and employ their own abilities to be of service to themselves, their families and communities." The community projects include nutrition initiatives for low income families, gardening projects, and economic development (social enterprise) trainings.
Children, Education, Economic Development, Agriculture.
MDC's approach to human resource development is based on the idea that a person's capabilities, attitudes, skills, and knowledge need to be acquired and formed in the context of his participation and contribution to the well-being of all. Projects will often take the form of assisting groups and institutions develop, express, and realise their own initiatives.
