Stop Malaria in your Community: Nets Discussion Guide for Use by Village Health Teams

Published by Center for Communication Programs (CCP), this discussion guide is meant to be used together with the "Stop Malaria in Your Community" grain sack charts. It is designed to help facilitators hold group discussions with community members to help them understand malaria transmission, prevention, and treatment, as well as encourage them help stop malaria in their communities.

For each grain sack chart, the guide offers an introduction and a set of discussion questions, that are designed to make the sessions interactive. The introduction also provides background information that the facilitator can use to start the discussion.

The guide includes the following charts:

• Chart 1: Malaria is spread by a certain type of mosquito
• Chart 2: Know the symptoms of malaria
• Chart 3: Protect pregnant women from malaria
• Chart 4: Treat malaria early with artemisinin combination therapy (ACTs)
• Chart 5: Sleep under a treated mosquito net every night to prevent malaria
• Chart 6: Hang your long lasting insecticidal net (LLIN) properly
• Chart 7: Care for your LLIN
• Chart 8: Prevent malaria with Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS)
