Introduction to Data Analysis Handbook

This handbook was written to introduce basic procedures and methods in data analysis. It is structured to provide a framework of guidance for programme staff of Head Start Programmes serving migrant and seasonal populations (MSHS).

Section I provides an introduction. Section II distinguishes quantitative and qualitative data. Section III outlines information to assist in understanding how to conceptualise data collection and analysis as a process. Section IV discusses management of data gathering, collection, and analysis. Section V provides examples from Head Start content areas and then demonstrates how to show trends, use data to support needs at different levels, and use data to identify clear results.
