The Communication Initiative
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

This MS PowerPoint presentation explains facts about influenza and differentiates between seasonal influenza, avian influenza, and pandemic influenza. It discusses the spread of influenza, lists pandemic facts and global and local assumptions on care, covers the theory of transmission from animals to humans, and discusses the national (United States) pandemic planning strategy beginning with planning in November of 2005. It gives historical information on the evolution and spread of the H5N1 virus, responsible for avian influenza or bird flu; discusses and illustrates preventative measures for all types of influenza and locations for treatment, particularly in the event of a pandemic; and gives information on international, national (United States), and local (Pima County) pandemic response plans.

Good article. We need to keep Bird Flu at the forefront of every business manager's mind. It won't go away so better start preparing.
