Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at lainiciativadecomunicacion.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

APFED Showcase Programme

To promote sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region, the Asia Pacific Forum for Environment and Development (APFED) invites proposals on sustainable development for the APFED Showcase Programme that demonstrate innovative approaches to address environmental problems.


The APFED Showcase Programme grants up to US$30,000 to Asia Pacific sustainable development projects to showcase innovation in relation to policies, in relation to technologies, and in the encouragement of social practices for sustainability. The granted funds may be used to support stakeholder consultations, feasibility studies, pilot scheme experimentation, and demonstration. It is a prerequisite that the proposed project aim to generate tangible outcomes in changing behaviours and business practices toward enhancing sustainability, and improving environmental performance. The completed proposals should be emailed to the address in the contact information below.

Application Info

Eligibility of applicants:

  •  The organisation and project site(s) are in Asia and the Pacific region. An applicant must be a representative of an organisation that has been properly registered under the laws of the country for more than three years as an organisation working continuously for the promotion of sustainable development in a country in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • The organisation must have sufficient capacities to implement the proposed activities.
  • The organisation must be able to show its legal status and to present its recent annual report including financial statements at the time of concluding a contract. The organisation that fails to provide the mentioned documents shall be disqualified from receiving funds under the Programme.
