Toolkit for HIV Prevention Among Mobile Populations

Jointly prepared by the Asian Development Bank, World Vision International, and the Burnet Institute, this is a toolkit - written in Chinese - for managers and implementers of HIV prevention programmes in locations where there is an association between mobility and HIV vulnerability. It outlines how HIV transmission can be prevented among mobile people as well as among people who live in stable communities affected by mobility.
The toolkit is intended to be used by people who already have some experience in HIV prevention and are now ready to address the specific challenges ofworking with mobile populations. It is not a complete textbook forpeople new to HIV prevention. It assumes that programme managers alreadyknow about HIV, know how to facilitate participative educationalprocesses, and know how to work with people in local communities. Forthese programme managers, the toolkit aims to present useful guidelines thatwill help them to ensure that all aspects of effective HIV preventionprogrammes are occurring in their location.
"Program managers who are completely new to HIV prevention will requirefurther assistance to use this toolkit. They may require some trainingin the methods of participative education. They may find it useful tobecome part of a network of HIV prevention workers in their owncountry.
They may find it useful to work alongside others who are running theirown HIV prevention programs as a way of learning what is required.These types of assistance are available in each country of the GreaterMekong Subregion(GMS), through national AIDS programs and through HIVprevention programs designed to address the associations between mobility and HIV vulnerability."
