Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Peter Drucker Challenge

Initiated and organised by the Peter Drucker Society Europe, this essay contest has the overarching theme "Continuity and Change - Balancing Innovation and Time-Tested Practices" and is focused on students, young managers, and entrepreneurs. The winning essays will be selected by an international jury consisting of authors, senior executives, and entrepreneurs. The Peter Drucker Society is involved in "user centric innovation in management based on Peter Drucker’s legacy with focus on effective management and ethical leadership." Key themes they address include:

  • "Management as the vital organ of a functioning society
  • The responsibility gap
  • Knowledge work and Knowledge Worker Productivity
  • The Entrepreneurial Society
  • Driving Innovation in the 21st Century"



The authors of the top three essays will be flown to Vienna, Austria, and invited to participate in the "Global Peter Drucker Management Forum 2010" from November 18-19 2010 and to join a management event on November 17. In addition, up to 40 authors of high-quality essays will get free passes to the Forum, including the gala dinner.

The essays may be submitted in English or German. Participants must not be older than 35 years. The length of the essays should be between 1,500 words and 3,000 words.
