Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

No Private Matter! Ending Abuse in Intimate and Family Relations

This competition is the first in a series of Changemakers Collaborative Competitions in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). RWJF's intention for this competition is to find innovative solutions and to catalyse a community of changemakers to help eliminate intimate partner violence in the United States.

Your organisation can enter the competition by documenting your innovative activities and solutions on the Changemakers site where it will be posted, judged by leading philanthropists, reviewed by peers, and voted on by a community of changemakers.

The panel of judges will choose 12 finalists who will attend a Change Summit on violence prevention. The Changemakers community will select three overall competition winners who will each receive US$5,000. After the winners are announced, Changemakers will continue to host and connect a global community of innovators, investors, and supporters committed to ending abuse.

Click here for more information about the competition and the framework behind it.

Deadline for entries is March 28 2007. Enter before February 10 2007 and you will be eligible to be one of two organisations chosen to be profiled in a magazine or journal.
